Short presentation:

In the current context of the healthcare system and its sustainability, the healthcare organizations are facing important staff organization and logistics problems while satisfying patients, reducing costs, and considering environmental aspects. Other issues could be taken into consideration as energy consumption and waste management when dealing with sustainable logistics and supply chain.

This special session is intended to provide a forum for decision makers, researchers, and graduate students to share and exchange their experiences, discuss original ideas, and report their research on all aspects of healthcare system dealing with sustainability. Contributions emphasizing recent advances and new research directions are strongly encouraged. Submissions describing real case studies will be appreciated.

Papers related to the following topics dealing with sustainability are appropriate for the session:

  • Decision support systems,
  • Hospital network design,
  • Physical internet,
  • Connected objects,
  • Logistics resources sharing,
  • Location issues,
  • Routing and scheduling
  • Simulation in healthcare services,
  • Operating Theatre planning,
  • Healthcare emergency management,
  • Home health care and services,
  • Human resources management,
  • Uncertainty and stochastic programming,
  • Security and quality,
  • Risk analysis and planning
  • Other related aspects are also welcome.

Short presentation:

Energy efficiency can be used as a metric for the comparison and the evaluation of different manufacturing configurations; it becomes a driver for manufacturing industry. Due to these challenges, producing companies are forced to rethink their energy policy. Not only do they have to be energy efficient to minimize their energy demand but they also synchronize their energy consumption with the available energy supply.

In this proposed session, we invite contributions in both theoretical developments and applications of optimization techniques and operations research in the area of energy. The topics of interest for this invited session include, but are not limited to:

  • Manufacturing systems modeling for energy management
  • Optimization techniques for energy-efficient production systems
  • Energy-aware production planning and control
  • Energy Supply Chain
  • Energy mix in manufacturing systems
  • Multi-criteria decision
